  • Observation: n. Data that is found by: to see, smell, hear, listen something

Summary
Scientists not only use experiments to test hypotheses, but they also look to observe things. This is called gathering observational data. Scientists use different types of data such as living species and fossils. For living things, they make observations about their physical similarities, habits, diets, and molecular similarities (DNA).
